Collective Worship

Gathering together to pray is a central part of the school day at Sacred Heart. The staff and children join together on a Monday morning to share the weekly ethos statement through a prayerful liturgy. Each day, children are invited to pray in the morning, before lunch and at the end of each day.

On an afternoon, children spend time meditating. Christian meditation is a form of prayer which aims to give children the opportunity to focus on specific thoughts and reflect on the love of God.

Liturgical events are celebrated throughout the year, where families, friends and members of the parish join together to worship. Some of these include:

  • Start of term Masses
  • Feast of Sacred Heart
  • All Saints Day
  • All Souls Day
  • Advent
  • Prayers around the advent crib
  • Carols by candlelight
  • Advent stories with Fr Anthony
  • Lent
  • Ash Wednesday service
  • Holy Week class liturgies
  • First Holy Communion & Confirmation celebrations

to name but a few...

We have close links with our Parish Priest, Fr Anthony Fenton, who visits school on a regular basis to join in prayer and worship.
